Racing just minutes from home, Trek World Racing's Neko Mulally took another win for season 2012 by taking the victory at the Duryea Downhill, an event held in Neko's hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania, and an event he help put together. Here's what he had to say about the weekend.

At the opening round of the US National series for gravity racing, Trek World Racing’s 3 Downhill riders took on some of the fastest men in the world, including current World Cup series leader Greg Minnaar and eventual race winner Steve Smith, on the famous Pacific North West track in Port Angeles, in Washington State. Aaron Gwin finished 2nd and Neko Mulally joined him on the podium for 5th.

Aaron Gwin led the way with a 3rd place, closely followed by Neko Mulally joining him on the podium for 5th. Justin Leov was also in the mix with a 7th showing everyone that on this course our team had the greatest combined horse power of the weekend.

Representing the USA, Trek World Racing’s Neko Mulally raced the Pan-American Downhill Championships in Puebla, Mexico at the weekend, taking a win in qualifying, but having to settle for second in the final behind Colombia’s World Cup rider Marcelo Guttierez.

Trek World Racing’s youngest downhill rider took a convincing win today on the slopes of the Portuguese town of Gouveia, a town which hosted Trek World Racing’s first ever team camp back in 2009. Neko finished 2nd in the race here last year, but moved up one step in conquering the newly laid out track.

In a thrilling finish that had the thousands of fans here in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, on the edge of their seats until the very last second, Aaron Gwin was narrowly defeated by local hero Greg Minnaar after setting a blistering time. Trek World Racing’s youngest downhill rider Neko Mulally scored a career best 14th, while Justin Leov finished a solid 17th. All 3 riders are now top 20 ‘protected’ heading into Round 2.

Aaron Gwin lead the way today for all three Trek World Racing riders who ended up on the podium at the South African national race held on the improved Pietermaritzburg course that will host next week’s World Cup opener. With a scorching time of 4m 14secs, Aaron was 3 seconds ahead of last year’s fastest World Cup qualifier Mick Hannah (AUS).

The early season racing has really kicked off in California and Neko Mulally, who left the frigid temperatures of his hometown Reading, PA, joined his champion team mate in the sunnier climes of California. This past weekend saw Round 4 of the Southridge winter series held on the Fontana track, a dusty, pedally truck lovingly referred to as 'Fontucky'.

Fresh off winning the Super D National Title on Friday, Trek World Racing’s Justin Leov backed it up by taking the win in the downhill on Sunday. This is the second time that Justin has won the National Title on this team, and the 3rd time in his career. Justin was onboard his Session 9.9 with Bontrager G4 rubber.
